An Icon Reinvented : Eau De Couture & Fashion Scents

It was with much caution and respect that
perfumers at Chanel approached their latest project, No.19 Poudré EDP 50ml,
$159, a reinterpretation of the ‘70s classic. “It was very important for us not
to make a fragrance to replace No.19,” explains Christopher Sheldrake, Chanel
director of research & development. “The original was the last Gabrielle
Chanel had a hand in, and it has a much stronger character – it’s greener and
very elegant.” The iris was the inspiration behind the new incarnation. The result?
“It’s powdery and slightly woody. It’s very sexy.”
