A lot has happened since one of the most famous singers in the world, Rihanna, released an album.

The 2016 album Anti was the last studio album from the Barbadian singer before an indefinite break from music, which has been marked by two presidencies, a worldwide pandemic, the invention of TikTok, and the release of five new Taylor Swift albums.

But in September, Rihanna surprised her fans by announcing that she would be performing at the Super Bowl LVII halftime show; this will be her first live show in five years.

The highly anticipated football performance will take place on February 12; to build anticipation, Apple Music released a short film about a Rihanna-inspired ball as a teaser.

A number of New York City ballroom legends, including celebrity stylist and father of House of Miyake-Mugler Yusef Williams, star in this short film set to Rihanna’s sick single Pose.

It opens with a montage of people getting ready for the ball, before the MC asks everyone to start making some noise.

Then, several artists walked the runway dressed like Rihanna in her most memorable outfits, such as the Adam Selman gown she wore to the 2014 CFDA Awards, the dress she wore to the 2015 Met Gala, and the outfit she wore in the Pour It Up music video.

All of the legendary ballroom dancers gathered on center stage for one last pose at the end of the teaser.

Fans flocked to Twitter shortly after the teaser’s release to rave about the trailer and talk about how much they can’t wait to see Rihanna perform.

The following is a fragment of a letter from a dedicated fan: “OMGG.. now this is promooo. I LIVEEE. Y’all are working overtime, love that.”

Yet another supporter tweeted: “Quem ! Miss u”, while a third said: “Let’s go!!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️”.

Rihanna recently revealed some information about her highly anticipated performance at the Super Bowl, and now we have a brand new electric trailer to go along with it.

In a press conference, she made the following statement: “I mean, it’s a long way from home, right? It’s a beautiful journey that I’m on, and I could have never guessed I would have made it here,”

“So it’s a celebration of that. I’m excited to do that. I’m really excited to have Barbados on the Super Bowl stage.”

She also discussed the challenges of performing a 13-minute set of her extensive repertoire.

“That was the hardest, hardest part, deciding how to maximize 13 minutes but also celebrate,” she explained.

“So it’s difficult. Some songs we have to lose because of that, and that’s gonna be OK, but I think we did a pretty good job of narrowing it down.”

The Diamonds singer has promised a “jam-packed” show, though some of her most popular songs may not make the cut.

“You’re gonna see on Sunday, from the time it start, it just never ends until it’s the very last second,” she continued.
