The Philadelphia 76ers host the Chicago Bulls on Monday night, the first game of a back-to-back set for both teams. The puck drops at 7:00 p.m. EDT at the Wells Fargo Center.

Latest news on Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey for Monday’s game

In their last ten games, the Philadelphia 76ers have won eight in a row and nine overall. They are now in a tie for second place in the Eastern Conference playoff race with the Celtics, though the better-playing Celtics are likely to pass them soon.

If they finished in second place, they would have a significant advantage over the Boston Celtics in game seven of the second round of the playoffs because they would be hosting the game.

On Saturday night, the Sixers made it eight wins in a row by beating the Pacers 141-121.

  • Joel Embiid – Active

Joel Embiid had 31 points (10-15 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 10-13 FT), 7 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 blocks in 30 minutes of action.

He is now a frontrunner for league MVP after scoring 30 points in nine straight games. The following week, he will have four games scheduled, starting with one against Chicago on Monday.

Meanwhile, Tyrese Maxey scored 31 points (12-18 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT) with two boards, seven dimes, and a steal in 35 minutes of action.

Despite a subpar showing in Friday’s win over Charlotte, Maxey got the nod for a tenth consecutive game at the beginning of Saturday’s matchup.

The 76ers’ fortunes changed after he scored 31 points to tie Joel Embiid for the game high and give him his sixth 30-point game of the season.

Now that the playoff race is heating up, Philadelphia is only one game behind the Celtics for second place in the Eastern Conference. Maxey will need to play a significant role in each of the 76ers’ four upcoming games next week if they are to have any chance of clinching home-court advantage through at least the first two rounds of the playoffs.
